Description

What are Spasmonal IBS Relief Capsules?
Spasmonal is a type of anti-spasmodic medication, which provides relief from symptoms caused by IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) by relaxing the muscles in the intestine (gut) and uterus (womb). This helps to stop the pain caused when the muscles become tense. This product can also be used for a condition called Painful Diverticular Disease of the colon (a condition that affects the large intestine) and to provide relief from period pain.

What is IBS?
Irritable Bowel Syndrom (IBS) is a common condition that affects the digestive system. It is usually a life long condition but changes in diet and the use of some medication can help to relieve symptoms. Common symptoms of IBS include:

Stomach pain or cramps – usually worse after eating and better after passing a stool (poo)
Bloating – you may feel discomfort in your stomach or feel like you’re uncomfortably full
Diarrhoea – you may have watery poo and sometimes need to pass a stool suddenly
Constipation – you may strain when pooing and feel like you cannot empty your bowels fully

Irritable Bowel Syndrome can sometimes cause

Passing wind (flatulence)
Passing mucus from your bottom
Tiredness and lethargy (lack of energy)
Nauseous (feeling sick)
Backache
Problems peeing – needing to pee often, sudden urge to pee, feeling like you cannot empty your bladder fully
Not being able to control when you poo (incontinence)

How does Spasmonal work?
Spasmonal contains the active ingredient Alverine citrate which is an antispasmodic medicine that helps to relieve abdominal cramps. Smooth muscles are muscles that we cannot control, such as muscles in our gut and intestines. Alverine citrate works to relax the smooth muscles in our gut (and around the womb in women) which relieves the painful symptoms that are caused by muscle spasms and constrictions.
