Paramol (Paracetamol) Tablets are a pain relief medication that helps to ease moderate pains when regular painkillers have been unsuccessful.

How Paramol (Paracetamol) Tablets work
Paramol (Paracetamol) Tablets contain 2 active ingredients: paracetamol and dihydrocodeine.
Paracetamol is a painkiller that works by blocking the chemical messengers in the brain that tell your body that you have pain. It can also help with fever and high temperatures.
Dihydrocodeine is an analgesic that relieves pain by blocking signals from the central nervous system to the brain.
 
Directions
Always take Paramol (Paracetamol) Tablets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. 
Children between 12-15 years old: Take 1 tablet every 4-6 hours. Do not take more than 4 tablets in 24 hours.
Children over 16 years old and adults: Take 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours. Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours. 
Do not take this product for more than 3 days unless your healthcare provider has told you to.
 
Side effects
Like all medicines, Paramol (Paracetamol) Tablets may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. There are no known reported common side effects of this product. 
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
 
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. 
Stop taking this medication straight away and seek medical advice immediately if you notice any of the following serious side effects: 
 

A blood disorder resulting in unexplained or unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, sore throat and mouth ulcers 
Depression, hallucinations, confusion, changes in mood, feeling restless and nightmares 
Dizziness, drowsiness, convulsions, uncontrollable twitching or jerking movements and headaches
Blurred vision, double vision and a reduction in the size of the pupils 
Slow heartbeat, shortness of breath and cough suppression
Stomach pain, feeling sick, constipation, vomiting, dry mouth, loss of bladder control and diarrhoea 
Muscle stiffness 
Pain or difficulty passing urine 
Loss of libido, reduction in body temperature, excess sweating, tiredness, and generally feeling unwell

 
Warnings
Paramol (Paracetamol) Tablets may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:
 

You are suffering from diarrhoea caused by poisoning or have watery and severe diarrhoea that may be bloody
You are dependent on alcohol 
You suffer from raised pressure within your head or from convulsions and acute abdominal conditions 
You have breathing difficulties 
You suffer from delayed stomach emptying and decreased movement in your intestines 
You are under 18 years old and have had your tonsils or adenoids removed for obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome 
You know that you metabolise codeine into morphine very rapidly 

Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking this medicine if: 
 

You have asthma 
You have liver or kidney problems 
You have an underactive thyroid gland 
You have low blood pressure 
Your adrenal glands are not working properly
You have a head injury 
You have an enlarged prostate 
You have bowel problems 
You have had recent surgery 
You have gallstones 
You have difficulty passing urine 
You have myasthenia gravis, a history of arrhythmias or a history of convulsions 
You have a history of drug use with mood swings or acute alcoholism 
You are elderly

 
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking this product.
You must tell your healthcare provider if you are taking the following medication:
 

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
Warfarin (which is used to thin the blood)
Domperidone or metoclopramide (used to treat nausea and vomiting)
Cholestyramine (used to reduce cholesterol)
Hydroxyzine (used to treat anxiety) 
Phenothiazine (an antipsychotic) 
Any type of medication from the antimuscarinic family (a type of medicine that blocks the nerve endings) or any other neuromuscular-blocking medication 
Quinidine (to treat malaria)
Mexiletine (to treat high blood pressure or an irregular heartbeat)
Cisapride and cimetidine (used to treat reflux)
Naloxone (used to treat addiction to opioids)
Naltrexone (used to treat alcohol addiction) 
Benzodiazepines (used to treat depression or anxiety)
Flucloxacillin (antibiotic)

 
Age restrictions 
This product is unsuitable for anyone under 12 years old.
 
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine. 
 
Alcohol
You should avoid drinking alcohol when you are taking this medicine. 
 
Driving and operating machinery 
Sometimes, this medication may cause temporary changes in your vision or dizziness. If you are affected, only drive or operate machinery once you feel safe enough to do so.
 
Storage information
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
 
Important information
