Nurofen Plus Tablets are a painkiller that relieve mild to moderate aches and pains.
How Nurofen Plus Tablets work
Nurofen Plus Tablets contain ibuprofen and codeine phosphate.
Ibuprofen belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by changing the body’s response to swelling, pain and high temperatures.
Codeine phosphate is an opioid angelisic. It prevents pain signals from travelling along the nerves to the brain.
Directions
Always take Nurofen Plus Tablets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
Take 1-2 tablets with water up to 3 times a day. Do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Nurofen Plus Tablets may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects may include:
Indigestion
Heartburn
Nausea
Stomach pain
Rashes
Itching
Headaches

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Nurofen Plus Tablets may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:
You have a stomach ulcer or have had two or more episodes of a stomach ulcer
You have breathing difficulties
You have kidney, liver or heart problems
You suffer from chronic constipation
You have had gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation when taking NSAIDs
Your asthma has got worse after taking NSAIDs
Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking this medicine if:
You have or have had asthma
You have liver, heart, kidney or bowel problems
You are dehydrated
You have a head injury or raised intracranial pressure
You suffer from a thyroid disorder
You have systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
You have high cholesterol
You have had a heart attack or stroke
You have a history of gastrointestinal disease
You are a smoker
You have gallstones
You have myasthenia gravis
You have an infection
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking this product.
You must tell your healthcare provider if you are taking the following medicine:
Anticoagulant medicines e.g. warfarin
Medicines to reduce high blood pressure e.g. captopril
Beta-blockers e.g. atenolol
Angiotensin-II receptor antagonists e.g. losatran
Moclobemide, which is used for depression
Hydroxyzine, which is an anti-anxiety medicine
Loperamide or kaolin, which is used to treat diarrhoea
Quinidine or mexiletine, which is used to treat abnormal heart rhythms
Metoclopramide or domperidone, which are anti-sickness medicines
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
Age restrictions
This product is not suitable for anyone under 18 years old.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Do not take this product if you are in the last 3 months of pregnancy. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.
Driving and operating machinery
This medication may cause dizziness in some cases. If affected, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel safe enough to do so.
Fertility risks
This product may impair fertility in women. This is reversible once you stop taking the medicine.
Storage information
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
