Niquitin Clear (Step 2) 14mg – 7 Patches are designed to relieve cravings and help ease withdrawal symptoms when you quit smoking.
They can be used if you want to quit smoking for good or cut down. The patches are a safer alternative to smoking.
 
How Niquitin Clear (Step 2) 14mg – 7 Patches work
Niquitin Clear (Step 2) 14mg – 7 Patches contain nicotine. The nicotine is released throughout the day which is absorbed through your skin. 
The patches can be used alone or alongside nicotine gum or lozenges. 
 
Directions
Always use Niquitin Clear (Step 2) 14mg – 7 Patches exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. 
If you smoke 10 cigarettes or more you should start with step 1 and follow the step-down programme. 
 
Step 1: 21mg for 6 weeks
Step 2: 14mg for 2 weeks
Step 3: 7mg for 2 weeks
 
If you smoke less than 10 cigarettes a day then you should start with step 2. 
 
Step 2: 14mg for 6 weeks 
Step 3: 7mg for 2 weeks 
 
Side effects
Niquitin Clear (Step 2) 14mg – 7 Patches may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include: 
 

Increased heart rate 
Abnormal dreams 
Shortness of breath 
Nausea 
Vomiting 
Stomach pains 
Diarrhoea 
Constipation 
Sweating 
Dry mouth 
Joint, muscle, chest and limb pain 
Tiredness
Redness/itching/burning where the patch has been

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
In rare cases, this product might cause seizures. If you experience this, stop using the patches immediately. 
 
Warnings
Niquitin Clear (Step 2) 14mg – 7 Patches may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, if you are a non-smoker or if you have never smoked. 
Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before using this product if: 
 

You are in hospital because you have had a heart attack, severe heart rhythm disturbances or a stroke
You have diabetes
You have serious liver or kidney problems 
You have had an allergic reaction from previously using NRT 
You have an uncontrolled overactive thyroid gland 
You have allergic eczema or dermatitis 
You have stomach or duodenal ulcers 
You have an inflamed oesophagus or gullet 
You have ever experienced seizures 

 
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before using this product.
When you stop smoking, medicines such as theophylline, clozapine and ropinirole may require their doses to be adjusted.
 
Age restrictions 
Children under 12 should not use this product. Children are more susceptible to the effects of nicotine meaning it could increase the risk of severe toxicity. This can be extremely dangerous and in some cases, fatal.
 
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant it is best to give up without the use of a nicotine replacement. Stopping completely is the best option.  If you can’t stop smoking completely then nicotine replacement therapy is safer than smoking. You should speak to your GP or pharmacist for advice. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before using any new product. 
 
Storage information
Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging.
