Finacea 15% gel is a topical treatment for mild to moderate acne or rosacea. This gel contains the active ingredient azelaic acid, which helps to slow down the production of keratin in the skin where it’s applied. Azelaic acid can also remove excess sebum and kill the bacteria that cause acne.

How Finacea gel treats acne and rosacea
Finacea gel contains the active ingredient azelaic acid, which is in a class of medications called dicarboxylic acids. These types of acids work to treat rosacea by decreasing swelling and redness in the skin and can treat acne by killing the bacteria that are responsible for infecting clogged pores. It also decreases the production of keratin, a protein that’s thought to cause the development of acne.

Directions
Before applying Finacea, make sure the affected area of the skin is clean and dry. You can wash your face with water or a mild cleanser. It’s usually recommended that you apply Finacea to the affected area of the skin twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening). You should apply around 2.5cm of gel to your face, equivalent to 0.5g. Make sure to avoid contact with your eyes or other sensitive areas.
It may take 4 weeks or more until you see an improvement in your acne or rosacea – Finacea works most effectively if you use it continuously over the period of treatment that your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist has recommended.
If your skin becomes irritated whilst using Finacea, use a little less gel when you’re applying it, or just use it once a day instead until the irritation goes away. If this doesn’t stop the irritation, you can stop using Finacea temporarily for a couple of days.
If your acne doesn’t get any better within a month, or your rosacea doesn’t get any better within two months, or if your condition becomes worse during this time, you should stop using Finacea and talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist.
