Covonia Night Time Formula is designed to relieve dry coughs and congestion from colds during the night.
How Covonia Night Time Formula works
Covonia Night Time Formula contains the active ingredient dextromethorphan hydrobromide. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide reduces the urge to cough. It is particularly effective for those who have a dry cough.
The formula also contains diphenhydramine hydrochloride which is an antihistamine. Diphenhydramine hydrochloride helps to dry up a runny nose and relieve nasal congestion.
Directions
Always take Covonia Night Time Formula exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
Take 3 x 5ml spoonfuls of the formula at bedtime. You can repeat the dosage after 6 hours if required.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Covonia Night Time Formula may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:
Drowsiness and lack of concentration
Dizziness
Feeling excited or confused
Feeling depressed
Sleeping problems
Headache
Muscle twitching
Trembling
Blurred vision
Upset stomach
Rashes
Skin blisters
Pins and needles
Dry mouth or thick saliva
Low blood pressure, palpitations or irregular heartbeat
Difficulty passing urine
Blood or liver problems
Eye problems
Sweating
Muscle pain
Ringing in the ears
Hair loss

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Covonia Night Time Formula may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:
You have a shortage of breath
You have liver problems
You have porphyria
You have asthma
You have a cough that produces phlegm
Before taking this medication talk to your doctor or pharmacist if:
You have glaucoma
You have difficulty passing urine
You have prostate trouble
You have a blocked intestine
You have epilepsy
You have heart problems
You have a cough that has lasted a long time
You are prone to allergies
Using/taking other medicines
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you are taking the following:
Cimetidine for stomach ulcers
Medicines for depression or Parkinson’s disease (e.g. rasagiline, moclobemide, venlafaxine)
Medicines for mental illness (e.g. haloperidol, thioridazine)
Medicines for anxiety or to help you sleep (e.g. diazepam)
Memantine for Alzheimer’s disease
Medicines for irregular heartbeat (e.g. amiodarone, propafenone, quinidine, beta- blockers)
Antihistamines
Betahistine for vertigo or histamine for some types of cancer
Strong painkillers (e.g. codeine)
Medicines to control the bladder
Atropine used to treat eye problems
Age restrictions
This product is not suitable for children under 12.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new product.
Driving and operating machinery
This medicine can cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you feel safe to do so.
Storage information
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
