Clotrimazole and Fluconazole Duo Thrush Treatment Pack is a combination of cream and capsules. They work together to ease the symptoms of thrush and to destroy the infection.
 
How Clotrimazole and Fluconazole Duo Thrush Treatment works
Clotrimazole works by killing the fungus (yeast) that is causing the infection. It kills the fungus by creating holes in its cell membrane. The contents then leak out. 
 
Fluconazole works by slowing the growth of fungi that cause infection. When applied to the infected area, it destroys the fungus which has caused the infection.
 
Directions
Always take Clotrimazole and Fluconazole Duo Thrush Treatment exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. 
 
Clotrimazole
Apply the product thinly and evenly to the affected area and rub it in gently. Use the cream 2-3 times a day. You should use the cream for two weeks to treat the infection.
 
Fluconazole 
Fluconazole tablets should be taken with liquid and can be taken with or without food. You should take 1 capsule per day. It is advised that you take them at the same time each day.
 
Side effects
Like all medicines, Clotrimazole and Fluconazole Duo Thrush Treatment may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include: 
 
Clotrimazole:
 

Irritated or red skin 
Burning or stinging sensation

 
Fluconazole:
 

Headache 
Stomach pain 
Diarrhoea 
Nausea and vomiting 
Rashes

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. 
 
Warnings
Clotrimazole and Fluconazole Duo Thrush Treatment may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this duo if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you have any of the following:
 

A heart condition or arrhythmia 
Kidney or liver problems 
Acute porphyria 
Abnormal levels of potassium, calcium or magnesium 

 
Using/taking other medicines
Speak to your GP or a pharmacist if you are taking any of the following medications:
 

Amphotericin or other antifungal medicines like nystatin 
Tacrolimus or sirolimus 
Pimozide, quetiapine, amisulpride, haloperidol, lithium or risperidone 
Antibiotics
Ergotamine 
Amiodarone 
Anticoagulants 
Carbamazepine 
Losartan 
Statins

 
Clotrimazole cream is flammable. Do not use near an open flame or other ignition sources. 
 
Age restrictions 
This treatment is not recommended for under 16’s.
 
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
This treatment is not suitable for use during pregnancy.
 
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking/using any new medicine. 
 
Storage information
Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
