Cialis tablets are used to treat erectile dysfunction, (also known as impotence or ED). . It’s the longest-lasting ED pill on the marking, giving you that extra flexibility in the bedroom. So if you’re someone who wants to have sex a few times a week (or more!), but is struggling with erectile dysfunction, Cialis could be just what you need to keep your sex life working like it should.
How Cialis tablets works
The active ingredient in Cialis tablets is called tadalafil. It relaxes the blood vessels in your penis so blood can flow into the area more easily. This helps you get an erection when you’re aroused, and makes it easier for you to keep it up during sex. .
Is tadalafil the same as Cialis?
Both generic tadalafil tablets and Cialis work in exactly the same way. The main difference is that tadalafil is cheaper than Cialis tablets, as it is an unbranded treatment.
What to expect when taking Cialis tablets
It’s good to know how quickly Cialis works, and how long it stays in your system, before you decide if it’s the right treatment for your ED.
How quickly does Cialis work?
It can take as little as 30 minutes for Cialis to start to work, though it may be two hours before you feel the full effects. It won’t, however, give you an immediate erection. You’ll need to be sexually aroused for the treatment to work.
How long does Cialis last?
Once it’s in your system, Cialis can last for up to 36 hours. This is much longer than its competitors – for example, Viagra lasts around 4-6hours.
Since it lasts longer, there’s less planning involved when taking Cialis, meaning it can be great if you want to inject more spontaneity into your love life.
How effective is Cialis?
According to a 2002 study, 81% of men who took tadalafil (the active ingredient in Cialis) said their erections improved while taking the drug.
Cialis vs Viagra
While both treat erectile dysfunction, Cialis and Viagra have different active ingredients.
Tadalafil is the active ingredient in Cialis, lasting for up to 36 hours, and is said to be effective in 81% of men.
In comparison, sildenafil is the active ingredient in Viagra and remains in your body for 4-6 hours. A 1998 study (smaller than the 2002 study of tadalafil) showed that sildenafil improved the erections of 74% of users.
You can find out more about their differences in our guide to Cialis vs Viagra.
