How Canesten Thrush Internal Cream works
Canesten Thrush Internal Cream contains the antifungal agent clotrimazole. It works by targeting the yeast that makes thrush from the inside and soothing the area.
Directions
Always use Canesten Thrush Internal Cream exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
Remove the applicator from the packaging, keep the cap in place, and insert the plunger’s tip into the applicator.
Twist and pull to remove the cap. Carefully insert the applicator as deep as comfortable into the vagina. Slowly press the plunger to release the cream into the vagina. Remove the applicator and dispose of it. Do not flush it down the toilet.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Canesten Thrush Internal Cream may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects may include:
Abdominal or vaginal pain
Nausea
Irritation
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Canesten Thrush Internal Cream may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use it if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or during your period, as it may be less effective.
Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before using this medicine if:
You are unsure whether you have thrush or this is your first time experiencing symptoms
You have had more than 2 infections in the last 6 months
You or your partner have ever had a sexually transmitted disease (STD)
You have irregular or abnormal vaginal bleeding
You have ulcers, blisters or sores in the vagina or vulva
You have lower abdominal pain
You have pain or difficulty passing urine
You have a fever or chills
You feel sick or are being sick
You have diarrhoea
You have unusual smelling discharge
This cream may reduce the effectiveness of rubber contraception such as condoms.
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before using this product.
You must tell your healthcare provider if you are taking tacrolimus or sirolimus.
Age restrictions
This product is not suitable for children under 16 years old.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
This product can be used if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before using any new medicine.
Storage information
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
