Vermox suspension contains mebendazole, an anthelmintic. Anthelmintics are specifically designed to tackle worm infections and work by preventing the worms from using sugar (glucose) for energy. Without access to glucose, the worms’ cells can’t get the energy they need to survive and quickly die off.
Vermox suspension is designed to help with gut or bowel worm infections, including:

Threadworms (sometimes called pinworms)
Whipworm
Roundworm
Hookworm

Directions
Always take Vermox suspension exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. This medicine is suitable for adults and children over two years old.
For threadworms (pinworms), you’ll need to take one 5ml measuring cup (or spoonful) of suspension. A single dose of Vermox suspension will kill threadworms, though your prescriber may ask you to take a second dose after 2 weeks in case of re-infection.
For other common worm infections, take one 5ml measuring cup (or spoonful) of suspension twice a day – once in the morning and once in the evening – for three days in a row, or as directed by your prescriber.
To stop you and your family from infecting others or re-infecting yourselves, follow the advice below for at least six weeks:

Keep nails short
Discourage nail biting or finger sucking
Wear pyjamas or underclothes in bed
In the mornings, wash your bottom thoroughly
Use a separate towel for each person in the house
Change clothes regularly
Wash and iron bed linen regularly
Wash hands and nails well after using the toilet and before meals

Side effects
Like all medicines, Vermox suspension may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. One of the most common side effects is stomach pain.

Warnings

Do not take Vermox suspension if you are allergic to mebendazole or any of the other listed ingredients 
Do not take this medication if you are pregnant; ask your prescriber for advice if you are breastfeeding
Do not give this product to a child under 2 years of age
If you have been told you are intolerant to certain sugars, ask your prescriber for advice before taking this medicine 

Storage information
Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
