Flixonase Nasal Spray is designed to prevent and treat symptoms of allergic rhinitis and hay fever. The spray can help with sneezing, itching, a runny nose, a blocked nose and itchy, watery eyes. 
 
How Flixonase Nasal Spray works
Flixonase Nasal Spray contains the active ingredient fluticasone propionate which belongs to a group of medicines known as steroids or corticosteroids.
It works by reducing inflammation. It can also assist with swelling and irritation in your nose. The spray also helps to relieve itching, sneezing and a blocked or runny nose.
 
Directions
Always use Flixonase Nasal Spray exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. 
Shake the bottle well and take off the dust cap. 
Blow your nose gently before using this product. Close one nostril with your finger and put the nozzle in the other nostril. Tilt your head forward slightly and keep the bottle upright. Start to slowly breathe in through your nose and press down firmly on the collar of the bottle. Breathe out through your nose, then repeat the step in the other nostril. 
 
Children aged 4-11 years old: 1 spray in each nostril a day. Do not use more than 4 sprays in 24 hours.
Children over 12 years old and adults: 2 sprays in each nostril a day. Do not use more than 8 sprays in 24 hours
 
It is recommended that you use the spray first thing in the morning. 
We do not prescribe this treatment to anyone under 18 years old from our clinic.
 
Side effects
Like all medicines, Flixonase Nasal Spray may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include: 
 

Headaches
Unpleasant taste 
Unpleasant smell
A dry or painful nose or throat

 
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
 
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. 
 
Warnings
Flixonase Nasal Spray may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before using this medicine if: 
 

You have ever had an operation on your nose
You have an infection in your nose

 
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, then talk to your GP or pharmacist for advice. 
Check with a healthcare provider if:
 

You have taken steroids for a long time, either by injection or by mouth
You are taking a protease inhibitor e.g. ritonavir 
You are taking medication containing cobicistat
You are taking medication used to treat fungal infections e.g. ketoconazole 

 
Age restrictions 
This product is not suitable for children under 4 years old.
We do not prescribe this treatment to anyone under 18 years old from our clinic.
 
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before using any new medicine. 
 
Storage information
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging.
