Differin Cream treats mild to moderate acne on the face, chest or back.

How Differin Cream works

Differin Cream contains adapalene, which increases skin cell turnover, aiding the natural exfoliation of the skin and helping to unblock pores. As a result, spots or pimples are prevented from forming under the skin.

Directions

Always use Differin Cream exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.

Differin should be applied at night before going to bed.

Thoroughly wash the affected area with water. Once your skin is clean and dry, apply a thin film of the cream and rub it in gently with your fingertips.

How long it takes for Differin to clear acne varies from person to person. Once you’ve been using Differin for 3 months, you will need to speak to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist so they can check on your skin’s improvement.

You mustn’t exceed the recommended dose of Differin as your acne will not improve any quicker, and your skin may become irritated and red.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Differin Cream may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects may include:

• Dry skin
• Skin irritation
• Burning sensation of the skin
• Redness of the skin (erythema)

If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

Warnings

Differin Cream may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

Do not use this medicine if you suffer from eczema.

Differin Cream must not be used on areas where the skin is cut, scraped or sunburnt.

Using/taking other medicines

If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before using this product.

Age restrictions

Unfortunately, we are unable to prescribe this product from our clinic to anyone under the age of 18 or over the age of 75.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Do not use this product if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before using any new medicine. 

Storage information

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
